I have specialized in sexual issues since 1981. My style
is interactive and verbal. My goal is rapid change of unwanted
behaviors and long-term work on deeper issues for lasting change
and well-being. I fully support 12-Step thinking and groups
as a part of the recovery process.
I am openly gay and work with
sexual orientation issues, gender issues and a broad range
of sexual issues, as well as, Sexual Addiction. |
I am very sex positive in my views and treatment approach. My current interests have to do with the inter-relationship of Spirituality, Sexuality, and the inclusion of these aspects into Psychotherapy. I was previously married and helped to raise four wonderful children.
I was the Instructor of Human Sexuality at The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto. I am a Clinical Associate of Pine Grove, The Meadows, and Del Amo Hospital. These institutions have in-patient programs developed by Dr. Carnes to treat sex addiction when this is needed. I began using a Sex Addiction model after meeting and training with, Dr. Patrick Carnes in 1992.
I am a Diplomat and Board Certified Sex Therapist with the American Board of Sexology. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. My PhD is in Human Sexuality and I have an MS in Counseling Psychology. I am licensed by the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have worked in Counseling, Mental Health, universities and graduate schools since 1963. Finally, I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists.
My private practice is in Palo Alto and in Saratoga (at the juncture of Cupertino & San Jose).
